Southern Rock opened its doors in 2012. Initially we were primarily a climbing gym with a small retail component but over time Southern Rock has steadily built its reputation as the leading source of climbing information, equipment expertise and climbing gear sales in the greater Durban area. This a direct result of hard work and the accumulated experience of its two owners, Roger Nattrass and Evan Brauteseth, both respected climbers and adventurers. With their knowledge and passion for all things climbing coupled with the energy of the staff members (who are themselves immersed in the climbing lifestyle), it is no surprise that our customers and gym members are such loyal supporters.
